AmeriGlide Summit stairlifts can be identified by their tan color upholstery. This model has a winding cable drive and a silver rail or track. The cable winds onto a drum in the lift, this cable rides in the center of the track and can easily be seen. Also, the lift has one lever on the top landing side to swivel the seat manually. These units are typically manufactured in Lake Winnebago Missouri.
Basic troubleshooting a Summit stairlift
The AmeriGlide lift operates with a winding drum cable drive. The most common call we receive for these lifts is a “slack cable” safety device that has stopped the lift from running. This occurs when slack is sensed in the cable and the lift shuts off to prevent any further movement until the problem is corrected.
The owner’s manual has tips that might save you a service call. Make sure you remove power from the lift before attempting any of the following items. The manual includes advice on what to do if the lift is not running when the steel cable is loose and when the unit won’t run with the lift all the way at top of the track. Proper use of your chair lift and safety tips are covered in the manual and should be read thoroughly.
The Ameriglide track is 8″wide and silver. When looking at the track or rail you will also see a black cable in the center.
