The Savaria Stairfriend curved stairlift is designed for staircases with turns, stairs with intermediate landings or where parking the lift off the stairs is needed. The lift is identifiable by raising the seat to locate the data label with the model number and serial number information.
The Stairfriend lift is battery-operated with built-in charging stations and should only be serviced by an authorized Savaria stairlift company that installs and is familiar with the Stairfriend Stairlift. Installation, adjustments, or servicing of any mechanical or electrical device on this equipment is highly technical and should only be done by a certified lift mechanic.
Troubleshooting basic issues
The stairlift is equipped with a key switch underneath the front edge of the seat. The stairlift cannot be operated unless the key is inserted and turned to the ON position. Insert the key and turn it a quarter-turn clockwise. Once the key switch is turned on, flip the red ON/OFF power switch located on the front top left of the carriage to the ON position.
Before operating the stairlift ensure the stairway is clear of any obstructions and the stairlift charger is plugged in at a wall outlet. Check that the seat is also locked in the riding position for up/down travel.
If your stairlift will not run and no lights are on make sure the stairlift charger is plugged in at the wall. Also, make sure the key switch is turned ON and the power switch is ON. Check the residence main circuit breaker (or fuse) panel for a tripped breaker tripped or a blown fuse.
If your stairlift still does not operate and all of the lights are on, make sure the seat is swiveled and locked in the riding position. Check around the footrest and carriage for any obstructions.
If the stairlift does not operate after checking the above items, call for service.
Stairlift is beeping, if the stairlift beeps for approximately 20 seconds while not moving, this means the stairlift is not charging. Check that the stairlift cord is plugged into the wall outlet. Make sure the stairlift is either all the way up or all the way down at the charging contact. It will beep continuously if it is not at a charging contact. If the beeping continues, you will need service.
Stairlift stops and won’t restart if the stairlift runs to either end of the stairway and then stops and won’t restart, this means that the battery charge is low. Charge the stairlift and if the problem continues, call for service.
